Dannae Garrido
Dannae Garrido’s desire to improve her knowledge of English to study other subjects led her all the way from Chile to New Zealand - specifically to Ara Institute of Canterbury’s Timaru campus.
“I’d heard good things about this institute,” she explains. Dannae studied a Level 4 programme in academic English and her experience at Ara lived up to the institute’s reputation.
“The programmed covered reading, writing, listening and speaking, I learned through topics and interactive classes, and by learning outside the classroom. We also made presentations on different topics to classmates and to other classes.”
While studying, Dannae was grateful for the support of Ara staff. “The staff are really supportive and always encouraging, and I really appreciated all the facilities available to me.”
Dannae says she has gained the necessary skills to work effectively in her chosen profession. “I’m planning to become an early childhood educator, to continue studying at Ara and hopefully get a job at an early childhood centre.”
