Pride Week

5-14 March 2021

We proudly celebrate diversity among our students, staff and society in general, and we’re committed to ensuring Ara is a safe and respectful environment for our LGBTQIA+ community. Naturally, we’re also right behind Pride Week and we encourage you to join in and be proud of who you are!

Here’s what’s happening at Ara:

Queer Day Vogue Ball
Wednesday 10 March, 12.15pm-12.45pm
Atrium, City campus

For the first time ever... it’s loud, queer and over the top! Come to the North Green for an explosion of dance, camp, glitter and self-expression as the team from Compound Studios strut the runway, voguing the house down and drop it like you’ve never seen before. Please note: Ball culture is a counterculture phenomenon rooted in necessity and defiance, so this event could contain language that may challenge or question.

Personalise a lanyard with Pride
Monday 8-Friday 12 March, 12pm-1pm
Timaru and City campus libraries

Grab an Ara lanyard at the library and decorate it with Pride to support and celebrate our diverse group of students within the LGBTQIA+ community. Lanyards and art materials will be provided.

Plus there are more Pride events happening elsewhere.
