Mask making keeps fashion students busy

23 October, 2020

As New Zealand prepared to head into lockdown round 2, a group of eight fashion students supported by their tutor Nathan Ingram, put their skills to work.

The students made 100 fashionable and functional face masks, all in different colours and fabrics, as well as a few different design patterns.

“A number of groups were discussed as potential recipients and one of our team had a connection with Skillwise New Zealand, so that seemed like a good match. We also gave some masks to the third-year osteopathy students to use during consultations,” Ingram says.

Skillwise, are a local community organisation that supports people with intellectual disabilities and facilitates options for people in training, the arts, volunteering, employment and recreation.
