COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 Update for Ara students, staff and campus visitors – Wednesday 23 June, 2pm.

Kia ora koutou

The government announced at 1pm today that following a positive COVID-19 case, the Wellington region will move to Alert Level 2 as of 6pm tonight (Wednesday 23 June 2021). This is a precautionary measure while contact tracing is underway. The rest of New Zealand, including all Ara locations, remain on Alert Level 1.

To help keep each other and our communities safe:

  1. Have you been in the Wellington region since Saturday 19 June?

Any Ara staff member or student who has been in the Wellington region since Saturday 19 June 2021 is asked to check these locations of interest ASAP and follow all Ministry of Health instructions. Please keep checking that link as more details may be added.

  • If you need to leave Ara to isolate at home, please do so immediately:
  • Please advise the Ara Safety & Wellbeing Manager if you are tested for COVID-19, then also notify the result of your test.
  • If you have travelled in from or via the Wellington region (whether or not you visited a location of interest): Please act as if you are on Alert Level 2 while this restriction remains in place: Don’t attend large gatherings, avoid large crowds, practice physical distancing, etc.
  1. Travel update to/from the Wellington region (including transiting through):

As a precaution, Ara staff are asked to please immediately delay/cancel any work travel to Wellington (including transiting) until further notice. Ara staff expecting visitors from, or transiting through, the Wellington region should ask them to delay their visit until further notice (unless you have agreement from Darren Mitchell).

Important Reminders:

  • All Ara campus sites remain open to the public, and all students and staff can come to our sites and attend classes as planned.
  • The QR codes for the Contact Tracer app remain in place and we ask you to keep using these each time you are on site. Please make sure that you have your Bluetooth tracing function turned on.
  • At this time Ara students and staff are also asked to please swipe at the entry of ALL campus buildings you visit. While you can freely access buildings without a card, swiping at the entry is an extra precaution to help more quickly track campus movements and contacts if we need to at any point.
  • Please be careful with your own personal health and hygiene; stay at home if you are not well and seek medical advice if you need to. The symptoms which are being described are provided by the Ministry of Health.

Thank you all for your additional efforts and vigilance to look after each other and the people in our communities. Stay safe.
